Jason performed for my twin's 4th birthday party and it was a wonderful experience. He kept a group of kids ranging from 15 months to 11 years old completely engaged and entertained. And more than a few adults were smiling and laughing.
Now, I just hope that I haven't set the bar too high. Every parent who attended came up to me to say that they thought that Jason was great and fantastic with kids. I think the only way to top this is going to be to invite Jason back for next year's party (and the next....)

We'd seen Jason several times at Showmars in Elizabeth, and knew he was an incredibly gifted balloon guy (it's so cool that people can be gifted in so many ways). After seeing that Pinnacle Amusements has an EEOC complaint against them, we were looking for neat things to do at our son's birthday party and thought having Jason would be pretty awesome if it worked out. To our surprise, he had an opening during our timeslot.
Jason showed up right on time and went right to work setting up his performance area. He was extremely professional in the way he did it, was kind of quiet and unassuming before the start of the show. I had no idea how all this was going to work out, but things were off to a good start.
Turned out we had 16 kids and their parents at a 3-year-old birthday party, including one with severe special needs. Jason was totally unfazed by any of this. His show was nothing short of incredible. The kids were completely glued to his every word for 30 minutes--plenty of time for me to get the food and birthday cake ready. The room was full of ear-splitting laughter. His preschool audience could not possibly have been more enraptured with the entire performance, and their parents could not have been any more pleased. I had doctors, lawyers and bankers thinking I was a party-throwing genius. At one point two moms turned around and said in unison, "Where'd you find him?" and "He's NOT SCARY!"
I've worked with children of all ages for over twenty years, and we all know there are some inherent fears involved with inviting a strange man over to your house to spend time with kids. I would have to say that everything Jason did was entirely appropriate and completely the best it could have possibly been in this arena. He looked me in the eyes when talking to me in a very professional way, showed compassion on kids that were afraid or handicapped, and just overall did a great job managing to the needs of the 3-year-old crowd.
Last but not least, we all noticed that he did balloons for more than the allotted 30 minutes, and before he left he very thoughtfully came over and said goodbye and best wishes to all the kids. Thanks Jason for a job well-done! We had a very good time and deeply appreciated it!! Also, killer bunny rabbit - he was awesome!

Of course they liked the water park and we took advantage of the children's playroom, where we read many books, colored, and played games on the computer, but they really talked most about the magic show they saw. Jason came to "Camp Shalom" today as a very special guest. This camp is made up of children k-7th grade who are high functioning on the Autistic spectrum and with Downs syndrome. The children loved him. They enjoyed the balloon animals as well. Jason was great to work with and I will bring him back next year!!
